Went out 3/31/10 for smallies & got skunked. Went out yesterday & caught five & missed two. Water temps in PIB were 50-52 degrees. Out in the lake a mile from the bay water temps were 47-48. Four more miles down the shore showed 44 degrees. The recent SW winds & sun has got the bite started. Here is a sample from yesterday. All fish caught on lc staysee jerk baits.

How much did she weigh? Are you casting or are you trolling for those? Great looking bass, awful fat! You ever try deep diving cranks? because I'm having great success with them this year.

Going to where you are located is at the very top of my to do list! We have numbers and some pretty big smallies but nothing like the average size of your smallies! I can have an average weight of about 2lbs 8oz to 3lbs 10oz., but to catch a four pound plus bass is something special around here, at least for me. I'm still trying to break the five pound mark, one of these days I hope it will happen!

One more question, how does a smallmouth that big fight? are they so fat that they don't fight as good a smaller one? Sometimes I swear the little two pounders fight better than some of the four pounders I catch.
