JJS Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Any opinions on best destination for topwater smallmouth trip? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Numbers might be St.Clair, Champlain or Erie. The biggest fish are in your backyard! 8-) Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted March 25, 2010 Super User Posted March 25, 2010 Lake Powell but not that many fish over 4 pounds, lots of action though. Colorado's Yampa River is a wonderful topwater river for smallies to 5 pounds and bonus pike up to 50". Quote
along99999 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I shouldn't tell you, but for numbers AND size, head to Hayward, Wisconsin. Specifically, Round and Grindstone lakes. Clear water, smaller lakes and the locals only care about the walleye and musky and leave the bass to the tourists. Quote
along99999 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 That's what you get, bear, for throwing back all the brown ones and being so d**n friendly when we invade your part of the world. I'll never get over the old lady at <unnamed bar> telling us, "Okay, boys. It's closing time," then emptying our freshly opened beers into a foam cup and asking us if we needed any for the road. Or, earlier in the evening, when the local at the end of the bar passed out and she declared, "Okay, no more shots for you, only beer." Quote
