Muad Dib Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 anyone use these. and whats the difference between banded and wiretied. also thinking how is the the trailer keeper on it? i have some rattles as i like to use rattles so does anyone throw one on with these jigs. i def like the idea of the wide gap hook. thanks fellas t Quote
Super User grimlin Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 I exclusively use his jigs and his alone. I'd doubt you regret buying them. For the price and quality,it's hard pressed to beat them. Wiretie jigs last longer as those bands can rot and break. Quote
adclem Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I use a lot of his jigs. The wire tied skirts are very nice. His jigs do not have a separate jig keeper hook like some jigs do. I do not use rattles with any of my jigs. You will bot be disappointed. Later, Quote
brgbassmaster Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 i bought 20 green pumpkin jigs and i love em. going to throw one this weekend. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 I like GMAN's jigs too. I use the wire tied for the reasons already stated. Quote
Muad Dib Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 do u have to order them from the site or where? and do you guys buy premade jigs or buy jig heads and skirts seperately? t Quote
Super User grimlin Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 http://www.custombassfishinglures.com/ You can do whatever you want...many times i just order the jigs by as much bulk as i can afford at the moment and i have a skirt maker. So i just make up my own skirts to my liking.I like fiddling around with my stuff. However he does a real nice job on the skirts matching what you want.If it's something customized he'll do it for you upon request. I'd pour my own,but to be honest,i'd rather skip the making/pouring process and all the money you have to throw into to make your own jigs.Guess you have to have a real deep passion and fish enough to make your own. Time is also something i really don't have to make them either. It's all your own choices on what you want. Give him a PM and he'll help you on anything. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 1/2 oz Widegap, banded. Longevity is not an issue for me, that's not how I fish a jig. Although I usually get them back in a boat, that's rarely the case from shore. p.s. I fish GMAN's jigs as delivered, no modification of skirt or weedguard. http://www.custombassfishinglures.com/index.php/jigs-widgap 8-) Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 I use GMAN's standard skirts but I do trim the weedguard. Quote
5151 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I just got Gmans wide gap heads and put on my own skirts,I highly recommend him. Quote
senko_77 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Hey T-rage. Gmans Jigs are where it's at. I have won some fat paychecks fishing his 5/16oz finesse jig with a wire tie in the "senko77 special" color. Give them a try. They are the best value in the jig market. Quote

Give them a try. They are the best value in the jig market. I think I'm gonna place an order in the next day or two. I was looking for that color but didn't see it. Has he renamed it? I don't want the competition throwing my secret color! Just send him an email or pm asking for the Senko77 Special and he will know what it is. Keep it quiet ;D Quote
BriBass Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 hey senko, wat would be the difference in buying a 1/4 oz finesse jig or the regular wide gap 1/4 oz.. other than the hook obviously... my question is Why buy or use one over the other? thanks, tryin to finish up my order with him and thats a question i had BB Quote
senko_77 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 The big difference for me is the wire thickness on the hook. The finesse jig's hook is way thinner and when I'm making long casts across deep structure, I want a thinner hook so it penetrates the fish's mouth easier even if my line stretches from the distance. Siebert Outdoors Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Wow, thanks guys. Its a great feeling knowing that you guys are catching fish and like something I made. Thank you! Gman. Quote
skeeterman24 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Wire tied skirts are a great thing, nothing more frustrating than skirts sliding down the hook on jigs and spinner baits. You can see a pic of what a wire tied skirt looks like on this site if gman doesn't have the pic: www.intruderjigs.com Quote
Muad Dib Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 hey gman i havent caught any fish yet on your jigs. then again im still waiting for my order. when i get it ill post a picture. and then when i bang up them ny bass holes ill post those pics too. if senko77 says there good ill take that to the bank. but before i get his special color ill try what works. then branch out. i def know what senko77 is talking about when he casts out a finesse hook vs a flippin hook. wish they had a thinner hook for flippin just to be more versatile. ;D gman ill thank you in advance for my new pb when i catch it on your jig. and if you have any stickers send me one and ill put it on my car!!!! right next to the *** sticker!!! t rage Quote
