schlaufen Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi all, I am new to the board and just can't get enough of smallmouth fishing. My father/brother and I have been thinking of going to Yellowbird Lodge & Chalet on Lake of the Woods. We have been there before but did not go for smallies. What is the smallie fishing like there? Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 15, 2010 Super User Posted January 15, 2010 Welcome , sorry I can't help you. Quote
A-Rob Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I fish Georgian Bay, so kinda local to your area. I heard Lake of the Woods is unreal for bass fishing. Check out 'Fishin' Canada', it is a fishing show, and they do a few episodes fishing for bass on lake of the woods. They don't stop talking about how awesome it is, how it is the best in canada etc. Both episodes I have seen are for bass, some smallies, some larges. Check it out on....'myoutdoortv.com', google that and watch it for free Hope that helps! Quote
schlaufen Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Hi Adam, Thanks for the info. I will certainly check it out. Quote
NBR Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 It has been a few years since I fished LOW but I would expect the fishing for smallies to be great. Personally I would prefer a boat in lodge. The reason being that drive in spots tend to have quite a few day fishermen starting out every morning so you might need to travel a bit farther. My favorite time in the area has been the second or third week in June. Shoot me an email if you want more info. Quote
GregLOTW Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Lake of the Woods is the best lake in the world. LOL Quote
