a while ago when the Spro and Tru Tungsten 4" shads came out, Reaction Strike came out with their rip-off, the Revolution Shad.

well now it appears they're copying mattlures' hard bluegill:

"The ultra realistic and detailed paint schemes, 3D oversized eyes and perfectly balanced weighting give it a natural look like no other swimbait on the market."

yeah right ::o

not sure when they came out with this, but this is the first time i've noticed it on TW.

i wonder if the Revolution Bluegill is any good?

are they as realistic as the mattlures NO WAY.... but imo they still look like a good bait, good colors,  and u can buy it for 1/4 the price  :o

But not sure how it produces  :-?

Why was the Revolution Shad a rip off?  It had its own look to me - distinctly different than the other two you mentioned.

Now this bait.  If I'm not mistaken, they've been out for awhile, as long or longer than the Mattlures.  I think it looks great.

i say the revolution shad was a rip off because it came out within a week of the others, and you can tell they were just trying to keep up.

i agree this revolution bluegill looks like a good bait. the colors aren't very good, but the plain ole bluegill color looks alright.

i just wonder if this bait is any good, because i've heard reaction strike has a reputation for not-so-good-quality baits.

micro: has this bait been out longer than the mattlures? i was wondering when they came out. like i said, today is the first day i've noticed them and they pretty much look like a knock off of the mattlures hard bluegill.

but if they are well constructed i wouldn't have a problem buying one. there is a video of them on www.reactionstrike.com, and they seem to swim OK.

anybody have any experience with this bait?

I saw them a few weeks ago. I don't think they are trying to copy the Mattlures hard gill though. The RS bluegill is only 3.5" while the Mattlures is 5 3/4". I dunno, but to me that makes them entirely different baits.

well i guess mattlures doesn't own the rights to a 4 piece hard bluegill, but the revolution bluegill looks pretty close to the mattlures if you ask me, regardless of the size difference.

i just want to know how this revolution bluegill fishes :o

that is not even close to a knock off it looks a lot different and is a different size just because it is meant to imitate the same fish doesn't mean its a knock off. the TT and spro looked a lot like the kicktail minnow it doesn't  mean they knocked it off. yes reaction strike makes baits that are at at least really close to knock offs not every one of their baits is one. You can only make a fish so many different ways

Personally I would buy one or four of these.  The price is right if they hold up.  If any thing this is a copy of the smaller 4'' baits but almost every plastics company makes a ribbon tail worm...same difference.

If a bait company is trying to copy a Bluegill they are all going to look somewhat similar to others who are trying to do the same thing. I have not seen the Reaction Strike hardbaits, but I've heard positive feedback on the shad bait.

This seems to happen all of the time with fishing lures, Rage Tail and just about everyone else copied the Paca Craw. And Berkley almost duplicated the Mad Man craw. If somebody comes out with a lure that works there are going to be knock offs and you can bet on that.

I'm not defending this company one bit, but saying that the revolution shad was a "Rip Off" based solely on the fact that it came out within a week of others is ridiculous.  These baits don't just magically appear on the shelves.  There is a lot of behind the scenes work (design, testing, etc) before these baits even reach the shelves.  How much time I don't know, but they could have started their Rev. Shad before the other two companies but wasn't as fast throughout the design/testing phase.... who knows, but ask a bait builder how long it takes to create a bait from scratch and have it dialed in enough to sell on the shelves.  I'm sure it would be more than a week.  If your going to call the Rev. Shad a rip off then your going to have to call either the TT or SPRO a rip-off as well because on of them came out after the other... right?   ::)

I'm sure you can find better reasons to diss on Reaction Strike... I mean seriously, they are Reaction Strike after all  :o

I bought the bluegill,a piece of junk.save your money.

Please give a review of the bait. Calling it "Junk" is pretty vague.

Does it not run true? Are the colors no good? Does the action stink?

Do they fall apart? Please be specific. There seem to be some of us on the fence on this bait.
