Hey guys I have a few chatter bait.  I tried them a few times and didn't do good so I was woundering if I use them right.  I was swimming them letting hit bottom and swim em again.

There is no right way.  You can swim it, yo-yo it, pop it like a jig along a sloped bank, fish it like you would a spinnerbait.

The bladed jig is a very versatile lure.

Fish it like a spinnerbait.

Run it into rocks, wood, etc. to make it bounce around.  Fish will hit it as it bounces around like a crankbait.

You can use any technique you want.  Throw and reel back.  Fast-slow.  Stop and go.  Yo-Yo.  Bounce off the bottom.

I throw it out and reel it back, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, asking the fish what they want.

I also bounce it off any structure I can find.

I have been using a trailer hook as I am not pleased with the hooks that Chatterbait is using.

Fun bait to use.  Give it a try.  :o

Here's how I use it.

step 1- remove the skirt

step 2- replace it with a LFT magic shad or a fluke

step 3- fish it like a spinnerbait, like Sam said

Hold on! Strikes are often vicious!

Add this one to the list of retrieve to try! There are times that I will tie a chatterbait on a high speed reel and burn it right under the surface with short pauses. The faster retrieve will give the bait a very erratic action. This one works best for me over shallow grass beds.

Here's how I fish them. Tie on a 6" or 8" wire leader and cast it along weed beds. Pike think they are candy! In my opinion they are a much better pike bait than a bass bait.

I fish them like I would a spinnerbait.   I use them where I would use a spinnerbait.

VALUABLE PIECE OF ADVICE:  Sharpen the hooks first!

Ooooooh!!!  That sounds awesome!  Thanks for that tid-bit, I'll most definitely give that a try.

Only needed if you aren't buying the Strike King Pure Poison.

I like to pitch them on outside grass lines and into the larger holes. I have found that the closer to cover you are with them the bigger the bite. You will need to hold on to your rod when fishing them. These are big fish baits and the strikes are vicious.

Like a lot of guys already said...really no wrong way to fish these.  I have had to add a trailer hook, like Sam, a couple of times though.  Taking the skirt off and replacing it with a fluke has produced bigger fish for me with this bait, too.

Thank guys great thread I am glad I posted this.  I will let you know how I make out.  Are they good in 50 F water?

I use the white chatter bait.. I usually just throw it out there and reel it in..nothing fancy.. I've had good luck with it , but I like catching pike/pickerel and bass.. I've caught mostly lunkers on this thing...the bass have been 4+ pounds and the pickerel are always 20+ inches.. anyway, I havnt even used any other chatterbaits cuz the white one works so well for me.. I did fish this weekend and was outfished by my brother who was using a white spinner double willow blade terminator.. he got 9 in the boat while I only managed 3..
