Bass Junkie Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I finally found a smallmouth lake near my house, and with every fish I catch, I get just a little more hooked on the brownbass........I did pretty good on spinnerbaits last time I was up there, and have kinda got on a spinnerbait kick. I've been lookin at Booyah Glow Blades in chartreuse and white and A gold bladed double willow in smallie special and green smallie special. I don't have much experience with brown bass, so these are my inexperianced guesses. I'm open to suggestions. The water is about medium clarity, not more than 2 ft in the lower end of the lake. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted September 14, 2009 Super User Posted September 14, 2009 My most productive color spinnerbait for the conditions you mentioned, is firetiger. When I'm fishing my canal in the Spring, my firetiger flat-out catches them. Out in the lake where the water is crystal clear I use white, or translucent. Good luck, and have fun with those smallies. They're the best. Falcon Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 14, 2009 Super User Posted September 14, 2009 Check out the "Winni Specials" by Fleck. They also make a "Falling Star" model which is great on smallies. A good selection is available from Northern Bass Supply. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I agree with Falcon. Especially if you find that the SMB are keying on perch the firetiger is hard to beat. Also, single Colorado blades slow rolled near structure is dynamite. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 1/2oz chart/white with double willow blades. They're awesome in dingy to muddy water. Any translucent colors work well in clear water but I'm partial to war eagle's mouse color. Quote
