1st Shirt Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I am planning a trip to Pickwick and Wilson this month. I have not fished a river system in a while and haven't targeted smallies in about 2 years. My last smallmouth trip was to Dale Hollow 2 years ago and we targeted Largemouth for that tournament due to the smallmouth slot limit. I guess what I am asking is this: When targeting smallmouth am I really going to have to make a big adjustment? I consider myself a pretty decent shallow water fisherman for largemouth, but I am lost as an easter egg if I have to go to deep water. Where I fish here in Texas deep water is 10 feet or more. Any thoughts or advice to catching those brown fish? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 2, 2009 Super User Posted September 2, 2009 Target largemouth and you might catch a smallmouth, but you are coming here a month too early. Prime time for brown fish on the Tennessee River is the middle of October through March. This may or may not interest you, but striper fishing is hot below the dams. I you decide to target stripes and need a guide, send me a PM. 8-) Quote
1st Shirt Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks, from what I have read, if I head up to the Wilson Dam on Pickwick I may catch a few Stripers along with just about anything else. Is the water real clear there? Quote
