Super User islandbass Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 I can't paint worth a darn, but since you're custom painting, I tried this one on a homemade crank. The smallies seemed to like it. One person thought Citrus Pirahna was a fitting name. This guy seemed to like it. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 I have most of my success with shad, or crawdad patterns. Hot pink is another good color for smallies. Falcon Quote

GSP Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I fish a lake in central Maine. When crankbaits are working for me, gold is usually the color of choice! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I have had my best luck with Wiggle Warts in crawfish patterns. Quote
Teal101 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Caught a mess of smallies in less than desirable conditions today with a hot mustard color rapala. The water was 82* surface and pea soup. Visibility 6" max. The chartreuse and browns made it visible and imitated the prey, crayfish. Quote

I read a post yesterday where a guy's best smallie crank this year was a silver purple back. But a lot of people are screaming gold. Maybe gold/purple back? Quote
