YoungGun29 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hey Guys. i usually dont smallmouth fish, but this weekend i am going to Lewisberg Wv and will be fishing the Greenbrier River alot. I went last year and the only luck i had was at night with a black jitterbug. Will some of you more ecperienced guys give me some tips and what to look for and where they will most likely be, and how to catch me a trophy smallie. Thanks Guys. YoungGun Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 1, 2009 Super User Posted July 1, 2009 Smallmouth bass relate to structure and current breaks. Standard lures are 3 1/2" Gitzits, Single Tail Grubs, Hula Grubs. In low light try topwater (Sammy or Spook) and jerkbaits (X-Rap, Pointer or Husky Jerk). BTW, Your avatar REALLY turns me off and I'm sure most of our guys find it disturbing. We support resource management which often means removing small fish, but for the most part, BassResource.com encourages Catch & Release. 8-) Quote
Sfritr Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 What do you mean??? That is just a really nicely decorated ice shanty LOL just kidding Go with the replical mounts....... nice fish though Quote
YoungGun29 Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 I mostly do catch and release although i did eat them lol. Quote
Ern Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Topwater something. I like Flukes and Heddon Products. Smallie LOVE busting the top. Gets the heart pounding too. Smaller fish, Numbers, go with the Rebel teeny wee craws and rebels ultralight lineup. In-line spinner are good too. Roostertails and Mepps. Grubs and tubes. Should get ya fishing. Catch and release is a good thing too. Just remember when taking the picture. Arms out and no bend. Puts the fish out front. then Focus the camera on the fish. Making the fish look bigger than it was. ;D Ern Quote
