I am usually already somewhere around Clayton the first day of bass season. however this year I am still going , just a week later. I am wondering what the water temp is around Clayton to Carelton Island , and is the spawn over or possibly still ongoing? It looks as if the weather has been a little cool in the area this year. Any Information on the water temps would be greatly appreciated. Thnx

the water temp was 60-61 in the river around the islands in the river on saturday, the water temp was 64-66 at the mouth of the st.lawerance and lake ontario then on sunday then on monday the water temp was 63-64 in the shallow bays around clayton. i was able to catch a lot of fish (all smallies) but they were all 2-2.5 lbs. seen a few giant smallies follow jerkbaits but they were not interested in biting except one which was over 4lbs.  i thought the fishing was alittle tough, the fish were really shallow some on beds and some satrting to move a little deeper.

Thanks for the info on the water temps, I will be leaving virginia friday evening about 6 pm. I hope to be in the water by 7 am saturday morning. looks like the water temps will be rising as the weather starts to heat up. If your out there next week look me up , I will be in a red Ranger 518 , come on by and say hello. I usually fish between the I81 bridge to the head of grindstone island. thnx again.

hey, I've never fished 1000 islands before but I'm giving it a shot up there in July, where do you recommend to go (location wise) to catch the bass?

thanks
