Im Your Huckleberry Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I am a landlocked fisherman who is finally getting the chance to fish Lake Erie for smallies thanks to a charter I am taking a few customers on. We go Friday June 19th out of the Walnut Creek dock just West of Erie. Can anyone up that way tell me if the fishing is still good this time of the year? Any tips for making the trip successful would be greatly appreciated!! ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 17, 2009 Super User Posted June 17, 2009 Call your guide and ask specifically what's going on and what you need to bring. I'm not clear on exactly what a "charter" means, but if you are fishing from a big boat with a lot of guys, that's completely different than the way you might fish in a 2-3 man situation. 8-) Quote
bassnleo Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Is your charter for bass? Usually they are walleye and perch charters. In any event, like flyhatch mentioned the fish are there and most are just coming off the spwan. If it's windy, drag a tube with a 1/4 to 3/8 oz internal head. If it's relatively calm, drop shot w/ 1/4 to 3/8 weight, gobie imitators, minnow style baits, 4" worms. Two colors will just about do it, green pumpkin and watermelon (or variations of them). Quote
Im Your Huckleberry Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 More info: The boat is a 25 ft. Boston Whaler. There will be six people fishing. The trip is described as drift fishing targeting smallmouth bass. Sounds like I better pick up some tubes. Thanks for your help! Quote
