BigJohnny Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I just found out that there are some monster smallies in a nearby creek. The only problem is I'm not sure if you're allowed to fish where the guy I talked to was fishing at. I went walking through the park this morning and fished a different portion of the creek with no luck. Just seeing if I could get some advice on what I might want to look for. Creek is about 30 feet across and anywhere between 1-4 ft deep on average. Quote
Mobydick Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 First thing to do is find out wether you can fish it, better safe than sorry. I would look for the deeper holes and fish them first. Look for anything that creates an eddy and fish them too (large rocks, logs, weeds, etc.). If you see anything chasing baitfish, throw around the area, chances are there is a smallie in there. Basically you want to fish anything that a smallie can hide in, under, or around. If that dont work, then just throw everywhere scince it is a small area, and when you find one, you can start putting a pattern together. Good Luck!!! Ian Quote
shaw24 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I have had a lot of luck fishing in current. Also, find where the deeper holes starts and fish the front of it. Creek smallmouth fishing is a blast...have fun! Quote

I smallie fish in the northern Delaware every summer and i find that deep holes with rock shelves produce the best smallies. And yes, eddies are great places to find smallies as well. Quote
