The smallie action was on fire yesterday on St. Clair. I guess it's almost expected when you fish a world class smallmouth factory at the perfect time of year. 20+ (I lost track around 15) fish in 3 1/2 hours, a plethora of 3 pounders, and the biggest being 5 lbs 4 ounces. Even if you can only get out for a few hours, it's more than worth it.

Central basin of Lake Erie was giving up some SLOBS as well this weekend. For us the fishing was not as fast, it took 6 hours for two of us to boat 25 fish but two were over 6 lbs (rapala digital scale) and several more over 5 lbs. Wacky rigged 4" trick sticks on a drop shot worked best. Also got a few on DHJ 10 in clown and blue chrome.

You can't fish the Canadian side of St. Clair for bass until the fourth Saturday of June.  Your buddies and I may be fishing right next to eachother out there.

St. Clair is probably the second best smallie fishery in North America besides Erie. One of the best muskie fisheries too. It's a dream destination.

That's why I live on this pond? There is no lake like it, as far as I'm concerned. It's very easy to fall in love with this place.

Since 2001, when I started keeping track, I've caught 122 Smallies  six pounds or over, not to mention, countless 4-5 pounders.
