thetr20one Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Haven't been up to the big lake yet but, lets meet up at Ashtabula or Conneaut mid- May. The smallies should be about prime then. Maybe the 16th or 17th? Quote
JoeyT Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I'm heading up tomorrow for a few days. How will the fishing more smallies be? Quote
flyhatch Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 We hit it from dawn till dusk and I got the sunburn and and torn up thumb to prove it We could not find them on the main lake and a storm scared us back into the bay. Plenty of lmb and smb on a silver buddy pattern I refined as the day went on. I casted it a mile and reeled it in as fast as I could and waited for the freight train like hits. Nothing humungus by erie standards but plenty of keepers in the 4 pound range. the perry monument area was the most productive. Quote
bassnleo Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Although I have not been able to venture up yet, a close friend who lives in Erie and fishes the bay all the time left me a voicemail yesterday. He is whacking the smallies, and big ones, fishing the tops of the breaks with jerkbaits. On Sunday he boated over 50, many over 4 lbs, including one he estimated could have gone close to 7 lbs.
