bigmountaineer Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Greetings, I've wondered over from the other side of the house and have began an interest in Smallmouths. I was wondering a couple of things. 1.) Will my current setup mostly work? Pflueger President 6735, w/7'MF St. Croix Mojo Bass Spinning 2.) I live in Maryland, southern that is, but originally from West Virginia near the New River, I was wondering if there were any close places to catch smallies or should i just plan on driving home and catching them on the New? Thanks for any help, Quote
bassmaster3000 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 hey, 1). Yes that will work. Anything you use in LM fishing will work in SM fishing. 2). There is good SM fishing anywhere in the north! My tip to you is: DON'T WORRY, HANGLOOSE!!! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 Your setup will work perfectly. As for locations, you could try the Potomac. I don't know many access points on the MD side but I know there are some. Also, there are plenty of small rivers in MD that hold smallmouth. You should post in the Northeast section to see if any MD guys can help you out more. Quote

You will find a lot of good info! I also agree with posting in the northeast section of the site. When I was just starting bass fishing, I would post in the western section about my area, and got loads of information. Anyway... Hope this helps! ;D Quote

I'll have to travel north a touch I believe to find some smallies. Quote
bigmountaineer Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 I would love to take a float trip down the New River but it's an easy $350 a trip. Quote
