This question is more for prepartion for next year but here goes. I at times do a lot of river smallie fishing and during the hatch at the beginning of the year hellgrammites have always been a good producer. Other than Bud's who makes a good hellgrammite bait? Thanks in advance for any input.

I use the case plastics ones. I rig them on a jig head and have had much success with them for both smallmouth and largemouth.

Good luck to you ;D

I second the Case plastic hellgramites.  I rig them on a 1/8th ounce jighead or split shot them with a 1/0 hook and 2 small BB shot 12-18 inches above the line.  Gives the bait more of a tumbling action in the current, which is very lifelike as it resembles a hellgie swept off from it's rock.

Lunker City makes (made?) a bait called the Hellgie, much smaller profile and I am not as big of a fan of them.  But it's something to look into.

The information is greatly appreciated I will take a look at the several suggestions made.

Uh...what's wrong with the "Buds"? Cheap, easy to find and they work great on a DS rig.

Your absolutely right Crestliner the buds are a great product. I was just hoping to have some backups just in case.
