Tokyo Tony Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Here's a nice dark smallie I caught this past Saturday. fishizzle let my friend and me use his jonboat at his lake, and we had a great day. 30+ fish between the two of us, biggest largemouth around 3 lbs, and this smallmouth probably 2.5-3. Most fish were caught dropshotting Roboworms (green/brown 4") along weedlines in 10'. My buddy was back in CT for a week after being stationed in CA in the Coast Guard. We went out the Saturday before and it was horrible - two dinks in 5 hours, and tons of boat traffic and noise. A week later we redeemed ourselves Quote
VTechHokie Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 nice, i want to get me one like that Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 2, 2008 Super User Posted September 2, 2008 I like the dark ones, too. 8-) Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 As Jimmy would say, you gotta kiss 'em so they go back and tell all their girlfriends ;D Quote
fishizzle Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 you're welcome TT I'm glad to see someone kissing my fish for next year Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 you're welcome TT I'm glad to see someone kissing my fish for next year I think your daughter caught one of my fish's girlfriends. Two full days later, and all the girls were still talkin' about me ;D Quote
Gary D. Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Nice smallie!!!! He looks like he wanted some pringles and a smoke LOL ;D Quote
SenkoShawn Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 that fish looks a little over 3lbs to me.. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 Gary - I actually caught this fish dropshotting a cigarette butt scented with Pringles salt. It's a little-known secret rig I came up with back in '87 8-) SenkoShawn - it's nice to hear you say that. To be honest, I thought 3 lbs was a bit of a generous estimate, but I'm just gonna go ahead and agree with you Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Super User Posted September 5, 2008 Beautiful fish! Congrats! Quote
swimbait Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 were you using the megastrike for a spread on the pringles J/K LOL Nice fish, Tight lines 8-) Quote
Masshole Mike Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Nice smallie Chaki! We'll have to try to get a Quabbin trip going for the fall bite, see if we can't catch a few twice that size. Mid-to-late September maybe? Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 Mike - we need to do that at least once this fall. I'm actually buying a portable sonar tonight which will be perfect for the jonboats there Swimbait - MegaStrike is a little bland for my taste. I was dipping the Pringles in JJ's Magic for a nice little kick ;D Quote
