ultralightning88 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Fishing a small river and havent been producing fish. Any body else fishing small rivers? and if you are whats working in your neck of the woods? Thanks Quote
basser89 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I fished the upper Potomac twice over the holiday weekend. Jerkbaits and small cranks did the trick for me. The Bandit 100 series, Smithwick Rattlin Rogues (suspending and floating) and Rapala's XRAP were my basic arsenal. You can NEVER go wrong with tubes either! Quote
procraft68 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 No "small" river fishing here but we fish Detroit River and St Clair River a couple, 3 times a year. Tubes tubes and more tubes, spinner baits and some top water in the right conditions. Good luck Snag Quote
CRFisher Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Got two small ones today, one on a baby bass 5" bass assasin and one on a zara puppy. First fish ever walking the dog. Threw a power worm, jig, craw, buzzbait a johnsons silver minnow (looking for Pike) in the same general area and got nothing. Caught a smallie last night on a 7" power worm. They were killing Mepps spinners in the spring, not so much know but it's so weedy I don't throw them much. Starting to think I'm fishing too much, went out yesterday morning , hung around the house in the afternoon then hit the river again for about an hour when my wife and daughter went out last night. Then went out again today after work. Quote
Smallie4130 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Starting to think I'm fishing too much. Blasphemy! I fish mostly small rivers and Ive been getting alot of smallmouth on flukes and craws. Mostly watermelon seed or some variation but I picked up a package of Junebug flukes and theyve been working great also. Quote
