How many baits?

How many baits will you guys go through if you know your on a spot where the fish are, but they arn't eating?

I Always start with fast moving baits first to see how aggressive the fish are. For example, a spinnerbait or lipless crankbait are my go to baits.  If I get no attention, then I'll progressively slow it down with a senko, tube, grub, finesse worm. If that doesnt work, then I'll go for a jig.

I change my boat position on the structure instead of changing lures

If I know a specific piece of structure or area holds fish I fan cast 360 degree around the boat and then I move my boat a distance that is slightly less than my farthest cast and repeat.

I fish a specific piece of structure expecting a non-aggressive bite knowing all the while if the bass are aggressive I'll load the boat. I start on the bottom and progressively work up the water column which is totally opposite of everyone else.

I might add that you also have to have confidence that the spot you are fishing is holding fish in order to stay focused.At least 90% of the fish aren't biting 90% of the time.

Changing the way you are working the bait(s) is more important than changing baits altogether with color being the least important factor.

I feel the same way you guys do. I have been sticking to basic baits lately and changing the angles. I think I am going to find a t-rig I like and stick to that to for awhile along wth my jig. I really like the paca craw. I sort of have the mentality right now to stick to the basics and not getting crazy. This is my second year of fishing serious. I am sure over time I will be devloping different ideas on what works for me.

That works! A lot of times I go out and go through the kitchen sink too much but I am also now learning to stick to basics and control the presentaion more.If an edible item is presented properly in front of a bass they will eat it.

On the other hand when the fish are chewing left and right I really like to start switching it up sometimes just to get an idea of what all they would be willing to hit out of curiosity. This can be the best time to learn new baits and techniques.You already know darn well they will hit one thing then you can go back to it if the other things fail 8-)

If I know the fish are there, but they aren't biting, I'll throw anything and everything at em'.  But I also agree with the others that it could be something as simple as changing your angle of attack.

Ill go threw as many baits as it takes in my favorite spots. But ill usually just stick with my favorites, plastic worms and jigs and stick with them till I catch something. And 99.9% of the time ill come up with something

LOL  I know why you ask the question but it boils down to what gives you confidence,how you work the baits,and what kind of mood the fish are in.
