mrmacwvu1 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 What is going on guys have not posted here in a few years so i had to get a new name. I was just wondering if anyone has been on erie yet for some pigs? Will be fishing mothers day if the weather is decent. Been fishing down here on the ohio river the last few weeks. It is starting to pick up. Me and my partner finished 2nd out of 26 boats the other night however no smallies only the green ones. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 9, 2008 Super User Posted May 9, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've fished the ohio out of Belpre , never did catch any smallies , don't think their that far down the river but I could be wrong. Quote
wballard77 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 they are still pre-spawn around the island area for the most part. I was up last week and we caught 31 in 7.5 hours! the biggest was 5.2 on scale. a lot of big 3s and 4s most came on a tube around north bass Quote
thetr20one Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Went today but had to be home early so my dad could make it to the tribe game. Did o.k. Here was the best of the day 5 1/2. Good thing is I bought wifey a spa treatment and I can spend the whole day out tomorrow. I will have more for u tomorrow. Quote
thetr20one Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Launched out of Fairport harbor and went east a few miles. My dad is still a member of my old club and they have a paper tourney up there next week so we went to make sure the fish were active. I will be fishing today On Erie about 80 miles west. Just past Lorain. Hopefully I will have more pics this evening. Quote
thetr20one Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Are you able to fish around the Bubble anymore? Yeah we were fishing around the bubble. I really don't like the Fairport area though. There are way too many other better places on Erie to go. I am pretty much Directly south of Cleveland, so I can go east or west from my house and get into some better areas pretty fast. I went out again today but the wind was blowing too hard, and the waves were flat so there was nothing to slow you down drifting, and a little hard to drop shot effectively. Stayed in a harbor and caught some largemouth and a couple small smallmouth. Really good for a day like today. Quote
mrmacwvu1 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 Well the weather did not allow us to hit the lake. We usually head out of fairport but we need to find some better places. We hit the break wall and then usually the bubble. However we have found a few fake reefs that seem to produce almost anytime for us. We are not much the tubers but to prefer to use the jerkbaits or yo yo spinnerbaits. Thanks for the input and when i get out there i will let you know what is going on. Quote
bronzeman Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Fished the eastern basin last week. did well on 4#ers. water temp was 50-51. the fish are starting to pull up from the deep. going again next week......weather unstable this week.... Quote
bassnleo Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'm thinking you posted your question in the worng thread. lake Erie is big but I don't think it goes to Kentucky Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 I'm thinking you posted your question in the worng thread. lake Erie is big but I don't think it goes to Kentucky Correct. The Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake are both smallmouth waters in your region, but this thread is about Lake Erie. 8-) Quote
