DINK WHISPERER Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Hey all! I purchased some Strike King red eye spinner baits in 3/8oz this sat and decided to try them in a local pond today. I was very disappointed in the construction of these lures. I first hooked into a tiny little dink and the whole shaft where the blades are attached straightened out! I bent it back and kept fishing. Then, the second dink i hooked it did it again! My third and last fish looked like a solid 4 pounder(lost it right at my feet) but i was unable to land it because the spinner bait was so warped it was ridiculous!!!!! That's all i had to throw too! ;D Quote
mlpauley Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Wow that stinks. But congrats on the dinks ;D Quote
carrothead Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Wow that stinks. But congrats on the dinks ;D Did you mean to rhyme? :-? Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 I don't think he did man, LOL! I only bought them because they were on sale for $2.00 each and now i see why! ;D Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 27, 2009 Super User Posted April 27, 2009 I've fished the Strike King Red Eye, Lil Mr. Money (only available at WalMart), and their premier model with never a problem. Caught plenty of good fish on them last year. Hard to understand how they get bent, since the wire to the jig head lines up with the line when a fish is on. The one thing I do to the Strike King spinnerbaits is to close up the angle on the bend slightly, so the spinner is closer to the jig. Works better for me. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Well maybe i just got a bad one or i was pulling to hard? I have even used the $1 Wal-Mart spinner baits without any issues! I was using a 6' 6" MH/MF rod and 14lb mono btw. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 28, 2009 Super User Posted April 28, 2009 I think you did get a bad one..like others I've caught fish on mine w/o any problems.. Quote
crankin09 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 No problems here neither. First BFL event I threw one all day caught 3 one being 4 pounds 8 oz finished 12th in the tournament not a problem one out of the spinnerbait Quote
CRFisher Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I've had the same problem, the wire bends easily. It appears related to only the Red Eye model, as I haven't had any issues with their other spinnerbaits. The one I got at Wally World gets out of tune just about anytime the bait gets caught up in anything. It's like the wire is made out of lead. Quote
