Does anyone know where I can obtain a wide gap or octopus style hook with a *wire* weed guard in a 2/0 4/0 size?

I've used Gamakatsu finesse octopus hook with a weed guard for wacky rigging 4 and 5 Senko brand sticks in light cover. However the weed guard on the hook is not wire and it is somewhat flimsy.

I fish a lot of Wave Ticki Bamboo Sticks aggressively in the spring in moderate wood cover rigged weedless. However there are times when I want to fish them wacky rigged.

Their thickness makes it difficult to use a wide gap hook with the point of the hook turned back into the bait. That is why I'm looking for a hook with a wire weed guard.

Thanks for any help.

Cabelas has Owner wire ones in 1/0.  those are plenty big.  i use'm on 5" trick sticks/senkos all the time and have great luck.  i initially thought that they might be a bit small too, but they aren't.

good luck...

I've been using the Gamakatsu weedless finesse hook for 2 seasons now with no problems in heavy cover. Just because the weed guard is a bit flimsy, doesn't mean it doesn't work!

Owner Weedless Wacky Hook.  You can find them at Tackle Warehouse.

For hook styles, I won't use a Kahle style whether is a wireguard weedless hook jig type, or plain hook for bass fishing. The hook point positioned in line with the hook eye will cause missed hooksets.

The Owner Weedless Wacky hook is a much better hook design than the Kahle.

Mustad makes a good weedguard hook with a 1/32 or 1/16 wieght on them.  I buy them at BPS or Academy.  I've seen them in 1/0 up to 4/0.

I use them with the wave tiki sticks, I like the feel better than the bamboo sticks.
