RW and others have convinced me to try this fat ida bait.  I have ordered some in a few different colors and have also ordered some of the palm tree version from kinami also.  I cant wait to try them hopefully this weekend.  can some of you guys and gals who have had good luck with the fat ika help out with when, where and how to be effective with the fat ika to catch small mouth.

Can I t-rig it and drift it below the dam RW??

No.

The Fat Ika's "magic" is in the subtle action which is, for the most psrt, negated with weight. In moving water, the lure looks like a floating turd. It is much better suited for still water.

Rig the Fat Ika skirt forward and fish it like a Senko. When you move the bait forward the tentacles are pushed backwards agaist the body. When the lure is allowed to fall, the tentacles flutter upwards giving the bait a "live" look.

I fish the Fat Ika on spinning tackle, #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft and Gamakatsu or XPoint 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks, weightless and weedless.

I also concur with RW. This is one fine bait. I fish it backwards as well, on a similar 4/0 EWG hook, texposed. I've only started using this darn thing about 3 1/2 weeks ago and I'm really impressed. However, I have had a great deal of success fishing it in our CT River, casting against bridge abutments and letting it drift down along each side. A killer on smallies! I also bought a couple of packages of the "Big Ikas" as well. I think they are even better on the smallies, fished in a similar fashion. They seem to 'wiggle' a bit more and increase the triggering aspect of the bait.  I've also been fishing them - in this river - using a 1/0 inline, red circle hook. I simply hook it through the tentacle end, cast her out & let her drift. Marvelous! Much more productive than regular Senkos IMO.

Good luck "pickin up" a pack.  I have looked everywhere and couldnt find any in stock.  I Ordered mine online.  One thing I noticed is that there is another company kanami that has them for what seems to be 1/2 price but they only put 5 in a pack where gycb puts 10 so dont get fooled on it like I did.

The Palm Trees are the same bait, made by the same people and machines at GYCB Enterprises. They have a few different colors, but the lure is EXACTLY the same, simply marketed differently. The "price per unit" is also the same.
