I am going on a boyscout trip down the Juniata river this weekend. It is VERY low and the temps are supposed to be upper 80's. There are some deep holes, lots of weeds, and one very good stretch of water that we will be going through. Lately the smallies have been kinda slow, all day long. What are some lures that I can try to bring them out of hiding.

I got a couple out of the Juniata a few months ago with some jerkbaits left almost completely still as well as some shaky head worms. (Both in green pumpkin).

If you are going on a float trip I wouldn't get too technical. I would think that some small shallow diving crankbaits like Norman Baby N's, no. 8 Rapala Huskey Jerks, White Super Flukes, 4" grubs, Pop-R's and some tubes would be in order for the Juanita this time of year. The Baby N's are a great float trip bait for smallies in shallow water. Actually, to save space, the crank I mentioned and some grubs would be all I would take. I think they are listed as running 2-4'. Have fun !!! :)

Moby, better check the river again it's going up fast with all the rain we had it's at 4.10ft. as of 7:30 am of course if Raystown holds back it will go down as fast as it went up.The last time I checked they were below pool level.

Try a white strike king mini buzz, or tubes and grubs. They will hit the buzz bait even in the middle of the day! Good luck.

On river floating trips I always take a supply of assorted colored rooster tails.  I also like floating jerk baits and tube jigs.  Good Luck
