Doug, on my own personal baits I remove the split rings from crankbaits but as I said on the cranks I sell they are delivered with an oval split ring.

For you guys using the clips, are you clipping to the split ring (assuming there is one on the cranks you are using), or, are you removing the split ring and clipping directly to the eye on the crank?

on a deep diver i clip to the split ring.if you don't have a split ring clipping it with a big lip can be a pain.on a lipless crank or jerkbait/crankbait with a small lip i remove the split ring.

can i bump this and get some more feedback on when you guys remove or leave the o rings.  i usually left them on but then when i got hooked on the speed traps that come with no o rings and a snap i started questioning if that was correct or not.

jomatty, this question could be discussed through several pages and still not be setteled, just a matter of personal choice. a couple posts up I said on my own personal baits I remove the split ring and use a duolock snap. To settle it in your own fishing put a split ring on your bait and try it in the water both fast and slow retreives then switch to the other attachment method and try it again, see what you think. I know I can feel a difference in my hands and I use what feels right to me.
