does anyone use mr twisters for smallmouth in lakes and if so what size, colors and how do you like to fish them?  I do ok with a slow but steady retrive.

I don't use Mr. Twister brand grubs, but I do use grubs, usually 3"-5" size.  In open water without much cover I use a jig head with no weed guard.  When the fish are around stuff like trees, then I'll go with a texas-rigged grub.  My favorite colors for are bumblebee (black/yellow swirl), watermelon seed, tequila sunrise, and different variations of white.  Jigging the grubs works very well for me, but sometimes, especially in the fall when the baitfish school up into big balls, swimming the grub over, in, around, below the baitfish with a darter-head type jig works very well since the smallmouth seem to be more active here during the fall than in the summer months.

I use zooms fat albert grub. 4 inches, i use it on a 1/8 ozmushroom jig head. Smoke is a hard color to beat. Use a slow steady retrieve or bounce it off the bottom

when i was a kid i caught more smallmouth than i can count on mister twister grubs.  now i think there are a number of better grubs on the market, and the ones i use are the yammamoto grubs.  there is no doubt that yiou could still catch em on the mister twisters though.

thanks for the replies, I actually don't use the mr twister brand any more either.  I have been using khales grubs and a few others latley mostly in the rivers though.  I have tried them in the lakes but haven't had that much success.  I thought maybe i was doing something wrong.  I still get the most bites on a slow steady retrive.  In the river it is my favorite bait if im looking for numbers and not size.

I use mr. twisters alot when the fishing is slow on a 1/16 jighead 3 inch chartuse. just let them fall then bounce of the bottom on a semi quick retrieve. if you are fishing weeds, try around the weededge.

I used to use Kalin grubs alot when I lived up north.  Pumpkinseed with a chart ball jig head was a killer.  I also used watermelon and copper flake tubes....deadly!
