When smallies are on beds the fishing doesnt get any better....

With one exception...  the smallies are on beds and your son is in the boat with you..

I took the boy out over the weekend to finish the break-in on Wamplers and at his begging and pleading we stopped to do some fishing...

We rolled up on a bed and I began to teach him what little I know about bed fishing... I pointed out the bed, made a perfect cast a few feet past the bed and began to work it toward the bed when I hear the splash of a 1/4 oz tungsten married up with a 5 inch hula grub.  This came as a complete surprise because as I recall I was throwing a 3/16 oz tungsten with a brush hog.

Just as I turned around to confirm my suspicions I see the boy loading up on this smallie...

Life just doesnt get any better than that..

That is awesome....almost like me and Tritonman....lol....He caught all the fish...but with only 3 as proof and no pics...lol.  His son likes to out fish us too.

So where on Wamplers did ya find those babies?  Last time we were there...shorts all day long.. ;D ;D

I only posted pics of the ones he caught :)  I didnt want to steal the youngster's 10 minutes of fame on the net!!  We caught about 20 keepers.  We cruised the shoreline, anywhere the sand/pebbles were visible we looked for bedders and cruisers. (which is nearly the entire shoreline on Wamplers).  We didnt concentrate on any one area, I just kept the TM on 50% and stopped when we spotted one.  I think we circled the lake twice just with the TM.   ;D

I figurd RW would like the smallie pics!   ;)

One thing I forgot to mention... the grandpa's and grandma's were bedding in the deeper water. 6 to 8 foot. The problem was it that the water was very choppy so that was hard to find and hold on the bed.

I saw one 5 to 6 lb'r cruising a bed and locked on but when I pitched to it a stinking 11 inch largie grabbed my brush hog and I couldnt relocate the bed. I was PO'd!

Those are great pics.

Green bass are a nuisance and always disappointing when you're on a hot smallmouth bite.

Kids these days just do not appreciate the outdoors enough.  I do not want to let him grow up like that!  He's going to be my NBAA partner this year :)  Earnings will be split 80/20 in my favor of course  ;D

Love those Pics. Nothing better than Dad & son out together catching a few. Some of my best memories are being out with Dad (He almost always out fished me but when I beat him -SWEET!! ;D and unforgettable!)

There is nothing better than fishing with your kids. Its one time you don't mind the other guy or girl out fishing you,  :) I am sure that day will stick with your son for a lifetime.
