CrazedL.IFisherman Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 It seems when i fish in Maine smallies will take any lure thats made to look like a crawfish, ive used many different brands and colors but if it looks like a crawfish those smallies have a field day and i absolutely love it, i wanted to know if anyone else experienced this fun phenomenon? wvubassfan Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 If you are on a smallie stream and you do not have a Rebel Wee Craw in the box you have no business being there. Quote
dizzy5868 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Crawfish are the smallies main food staple. You would get even better results if you did a little checking on the bank. Flip some rocks and see what color the crawfish are, take one and lay it next to your tubes and match the color and size. Also look at the claws for tinting, orange, red, blue and dip the tip of the skirt to match. You will increase your catch rate two fold. I do this at every tournament and it pays off. the water will you what you need just trust it. Rob Quote
Garnet Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Allways look at the pretty face of those smallies. If they are all marked up they are rooting around for dinner. Get the crawfish baits out. Garnet Quote
CrazedL.IFisherman Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 thanks guys, dizzy5868 i know exactly what your talking about and have done that often for years, maybe you kinda misunderstood my question just wanted to see if other anglers had that cool experience when smallies are out of control, and going after any and every crawfish type bait thats all im saying Quote
dizzy5868 Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Ya maybe I did misunderstand. I do get the same effect that you get . When they start feeding heavy, they eat anything that looks like a crawfish. Quote
