stratoscaster Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Hey guys, I haven't posted in awhile, although I have been around. Anyway I was curious as to how far south smallmouth can be caught? Quote
Shimano-king Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Hey, I'm not sure exactly how far from me you are, but im in central Califonia and im catching smallies. Im only 350 miles from the mexican border. I wouldent be supprized if they inhabit texas. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 17, 2006 Super User Posted June 17, 2006 The intersting thing about smalljaws is that they are not as hardy as largemouths, they just don 't seem to thrive in warmer environments, there are no smallmouth that I know below San Antonio, lakes like Amistad and Falcon do not have them even though they have stripped bass, I 've been to Choke Canyon in TX several times and never seen a smalljaw. Super User RoLo Posted June 18, 2006 Super User Posted June 18, 2006 Along the Atlantic seaboard, smallmouth bass range as far south as northern Georgia. At that, Georgia has only a couple of lakes like Carters Lake, that support a marginal population of bronzebacks. Roger Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 18, 2006 Super User Posted June 18, 2006 I don't know the answer out west, but in the Southeast you can basically draw a line from Little Rock, AR to Atlanta, GA and that is the line, give or take a hundred miles or so. Quote
