Hi,

This is great sight that I have been lurking around and getting a ton of good information from. I thought it was high time I joined.

I am a surf fisherman at heart. Tons of surf rods and equipment for chasing stripers up and down the coast. But that's the problem, I have to chase them pretty far. Right next to me is a great river (Potomac) for small and large mouth that I never fish in. I also pass tons of great rivers and lakes on the Eastern shore, Conn., Jersey and Mass on my way to stripers and drum. I am looking to become a bass fisherman. I have picked up a nice Shimano Citica and looking to get my first bass rod to match it. I am excited to fill a new tackle box to the gills with a bunch of crazy lures to rival my bear's cave of a couple hundred surf plugs hanging from the ceiling. I got a kayak that is itching to be used in the spring for some smallies. I know nothing about bass fishing, but it looks like I came to the right place to learn and I just can't wait!

Thanks

Summersoff

Welcome! That's a nice introduction. You've come to the right place. Check out the fishing articles on the site including the beginner sections. The link is at the left on the green bar above. You'll find a treasure trove of information in these articles.

There are plenty of other people from Virginia on this site who can help you with specific areas in your geographic region. You Virginians are like a plague of locusts. You're everywhere on this forum. ;)

Yes!!! Another Virginia guy joins us.

Welcome to the forum.

Consider heading south, too. Hope Springs out of Stafford and Leesylvannia off Route 1 are good places to launch your boat.

Then you have the Rappahannock, Mattaponi and Pamunkey Rivers before hitting the Historic James River.

Lake Chesdin to the west of Petersburg and the two big ones, Gaston and Kerr.

Many more, too all over the state.

Just ask your questions and we will supply the answers.

In return, we ask you to share your experiences and adventures and insights with us.

Enjoy the traffic in NOVA!  :D   :D   :D
