skey44 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi I am Scott. I went to school at Clemson University starting in 2001. I have lived in Clemson SC ever since. Only recently have I started to put time and effort into bass fishing.... and boy the bug has bitten me. The first day not really knowing what I was doing (around end of April) I caught 7 small keeper sized LMB! Have not done that well since # wise, but have started to more consistently pick up 3 pounders. Only hooked one so far that was 5+ and it popped the jig right at the boat (rushed her). Gotten all the nice gear head stuff and had fun with it. The most recent addition being a Lowrance HDS 5 with structure scan (only been on the water twice with it, can't wait for tomorrow when I'll be out all day!) I have fished in some way shape or form almost every day this summer since that first day in late April, and boy have I enjoyed it. This site has also given me a lot of insight and am very thankful to have found it. BTW I am looking for some more people to fish with, I don't mind taking someone out, fishing out of the back with someone else, or shore fishing. Just as long as I'm fishing! I just want to get more time on the water and learn from as many sources as I can! I have a few people that go with me from time to time (based on the weather and their schedules), but it seems I am fishing 75% of the time by myself. I am a pretty social person and this doesn't work too well for me, even though as long as I'm fishing I'm not complaining! Quote
bear7625 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Hello and welcome. 8-) Lived down there for a short time and fished Hartwell. That lake is awesome! Quote
skey44 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 We are fond of our Tigers and our lake around here! We are already gearing up for football season! Quote

Deb Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Howdy and Welcome! We are coming to Lake Hartwell in May '11 for the Lady Bass Anglers tour.....never fished it before. Quote
skey44 Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 sounds fun! when will you be heading this way? I'd love to come to the weigh in! Hope you guys get a good dose of the local hospitality. I will say depending on where the launch is (upper or lower lake) Clemson is a good place to stay because we are used to handling visitors with 80,000 + making their way to town on home game weekends in the fall! skey44 Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 O yeah... gear update! put an NRX on layaway last night (only because my girlfriend made me promise not to buy it last night ) now to choose the perfect reel. I picked up the 7'5" extrafast med-hvy version. Should I go with something classy like the Shimano Chronarch or something light and stealthy like a Abu Premier or Shimano Core? I'd like to really match this up right. Probably gonna put 14# fluoro on to do some jig/heavy cover fishing, but still be able to cast those lighter plastics a ways. Lemme know what you think! Quote

You should probably ask this on the Rods/Reels/Line board, you'll get more responses. We'll be on Hartwell May 5th & 6th. May 7th will be a benefit tournament (local charity not chosen yet) open to all anglers but a female must be one of the anglers. Come on out and enjoy the fun! Quote
skey44 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Thanks for the info, reposted in the other category and got lots of good info! Quote
skey44 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Coonedog, where do you live/fish? I grew up a South Carolina fan, but went to Clemson. Pull for both except once a year in football (and a couple other times in other sports when they play the rivalry game!). Quote
