NewFishinDad Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Lake Saranac in the High Peaks area not to far from Lake Placid. My dad and brothers have been going up every year for about 15 years, I've been up the last 5. Quote

Wild Bill [NY] Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Hey "dad", Welcome aboard from NY. I fish Upper Saranac Lake each July, and will be up there the second week of July this year [starting on Saturday, the 11th through to the following Saturday]. I got a real soft spot for any Dad taking his boys out fishing, as that is how I got started fishing myself, a near lifetime ago, by my own dad taking me fishing for the first time, back in 1960. I got all the "toys and whistles" anyone would ever need to go Bass fishing, so I invite you to contact me at fishnwilly@optonline.net , and maybe I can arrange to show you and the lads a great time out on my Ranger someday for free. I live down on Long Island normally, but for one week each Summer, I am in my "nirvana" up there on USL, fishing everyday I am there, all day. The Saranac Chain of lakes have many, many species of fish in them, ranging from Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Perch, several specie of Trout, Landlocked Salmon, Catfish, Bluegills, Whitefish, and other species as well. Please feel free to contact me to pick my mind for lure suggestions and tactics I would recommend. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 21, 2010 Super User Posted February 21, 2010 WELCOME aboard! So are you living in MA now? Or NY? If in MA, where abouts? I've fished this state for over 40 years, so I know there's a lot of great fishing right close to home (I'm in Western MA.) You've certainly come to the right place for either state! Quote
NewFishinDad Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Thanks for the welcome everyone. I appreciate it. Crestliner I am in eastern Mass now but I grew up in Holyoke. Hopefully, I'll get to hit the shad run this spring. Wild Bill, I'll be up to Saranac in August. We're in canoes and /or a kayak so we camp on lower Saranac. I'll definitely drop you a line after I get some practice before my trip to get some pointers on tackle. Thanks. I can't wait for the lake to thaw, There' only so many trips to the tackle stores my wife can handle. Quote

I grew up there as well....in the flats. Until I went into the service in the mid '60's. Quote
