blnk1228 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Hi all, I've been lurking on this site for a while now and thought I would introduce myself. I'm from Rochester, NY and try to get out as much as I can, my hobby of fishing is quickly becoming an obsession! I look forward to learning lots from everyone and hopefully contributing! Quote

norton676 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Kind of ironic, I just found the site today and i'm from Rochester as well, over on the ER side. Picked up fishing again this past weekend after a pretty successful trip to the 1000 islands. Haven't touched my rods in almost 3 years now. Quote

Very cool, any places you would recommend for a good outing? Boat or no Boat? No Boat, Durand Ponds all day everyday, tons of nice fish, pretty easy to catch and can try every type of bait. Have caught them on things from drop shots to frogs and everything in between. If you have a boat Irondequoit bay is a nice place to start, I haven't really been on it too awful much but when I have i have caught a few fish. If you want to travel a bit, Sodus bay is loaded with fish, and right next door, port bay; which has been very good to me so far. Quote
norton676 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 For fishing on foot around Durand where would you park? I tried mendon ponds (100 acre) but only caught 1 small SMB and a bunch of sunnies once i gave up on bass for the day. Quote

For durand there are roads that go back up, one is called zoo road and the other is just one across from the beach. Quote
