BassinNewbie Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 LOL!!! @ Micro My enthusiasm for bass fishing lead me down the path of my very first fishing pole ever........The Steez. Understanding the difficulties and challenges ahead, I proceeded ahead and purchased The Steez (very sharp and smooth rod and reel). I practiced in a large parking lot for several weeks casting away until I reached a point where I was fairly decent at casting a baitcaster. The problem came when I would inevitably birdnest at least once every practice session no matter what I did. It dampened my enthusiasm as I was obsessively focused on the spool every cast rather than casting and enjoying the process of learning how to cast ....it was a bit fustrating to say the least. So, to make a long story longer............I researched this forum, read articles, watched interviews of pros on TV, etc, etc. The key I heard over and over again was "fish with what makes you comfortable with and enjoy casting with." I remember as a teenager fishing with what I remember to be a Zebco with my grandad............we didn't catch a thing but it was fun! I went online, found the Zebco website, saw that that was what I was fishing with as a teenager. I purchased what I thought were the two best and on the very first cast, I was instantly thrown back into lala land. It felt good! I felt confident, I felt like a pro casting away, tossing the weight wherever I wanted. With extreme ease, I would cast the weight 100ft to 120ft with accuracy......I felt good again and was loving it!!........it was, to say the least, fantastic. My Steez reel sits in the back of my truck for some lucky soul who wants to buy it at a deep discount and my Zebco Omega is mounted on the Steez pole (thats a bit extreme...huh? LOL). Now, I need to get my lures, sunglasses, license, and go out there and have fun!! Quote

That new Zebco Delta reel is really nice as well.......both cast extremely smooth, I can accrurately cast a weight wherever I want, well made, very very nice overall. I seem to cast more accurately with the Delta. Really like them both, they are a joy to cast. Now I need to fish them to see how they really perform.
