I have been learning from this site for over a year, but just recently started posting more. Well, actually buying from the flea market. haha Thanks cbfishalot, coolhandlala, thefishin1, the_natural, and soon uncle leo. Everyone of these guys have given me a great deal! My hometown is Rockford, IL, but I currently attend dental school in Chicago. The only time I get to fish is on the weekends I head back home to visit my parents. I mostly fish the local state park and private quarries and ponds. The best thing I ever did was get my wife of 2 years hooked on fishing. Brought her out to the state park with 3 dozen wax worms and caught bluegill all day. I caught more, but she caught the only crappie. After shoving that in my face for a week, she finally caught her first largie. To this day, she almost always starts out with a texas rigged tequila sunrise zoom worm because of that first bass. I am also still learning. This will be my first full season using a baitcaster and I am trying to learn how to drop shot and carolina rig. Thanks to all those that keep myself and others learning. I hope you guys keep the annual trip together as I would love to join everyone once I get out of school and have the finances. I wish everyone a great year of many fish.

Welcome to the forum - you'll like it here.  Last year was my first using primarily baitcasters.  I messed around for a few years with some cheaply made reels and had all sorts of trouble.  I think a well made reel makes a huge difference.  I bought a Shimano Citica 200e this year (a bit over $100 online) and would highly recommend it.  Best of luck!
