fishbully 2.0 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Every time I go to BPS online they are always out of the sexy shad color. Is it really that great or is it just another pattern to have? Quote
hawgwalker Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 It was sexier back when it was plain ol chartreuse shad and everyone and his brother wasn't throwing it Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 15, 2009 Super User Posted April 15, 2009 Kevin VanDam supposedly used this color pattern two years ago and he was extremely successful. When it was announced that KVD used this color pattern, Strike King marketed the pattern very aggressively. Other lure manufacturers copied the design and marketed them under other names, such as Foxy Shad. Are they better than the normal "shad" colors? I really do not know. I think your retrieve technique is very important when throwing a crankbait and if the fish are in an aggressive mood to strike the bait. However, with a certain percentage of bass fishing being mental, if you feel confident with the color pattern, by all means, throw it. And let us know of your results. Quote
jdw174 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Don't know if it's the color or the lure itself. I do know that it's about the only lipless I toss these days and it's worked/working very well. Quote
Primus Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 It's another good color, nothing more nothing less in my opinion. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I'd hit it...... haha, agreed! I wish every bass angler on the planet was not trying to buy this pattern, but that being said it is a good pattern/lure. I think the only thing that sets "sexy shad" apart from similar Chartreuse Shad color schemes is marketing. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted April 15, 2009 Super User Posted April 15, 2009 Just another color to have. And to think, just a year or two ago you could go into that same BPS and all they tried to sell you was a bleeding bait with red all over it, because it was THE greatest thing since sliced bread. :-/ -T9 Quote
bassin is addicting Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 i've seen my buddy throw the red eye trap in sexy shad in a tournament we were in. he did really well with it when nothing else was working. and we had tried everything. so... it convinced me.......for that day anyway probably all about location and timing though. adclem Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I have tried several different Strike King lures in the Sexy Shad color and have only had success with the Spittin King, nothing else. Later, Quote
Super User CWB Posted April 15, 2009 Super User Posted April 15, 2009 I use it and it does work. That's not to say there aren't similar colors that work just as well. I have been doing better lately with Chartreuse Sexy Shad. It has a bit more Chartreuse in it. Remember, fish are basically stupid. And they don't watch or read commercials But they do know what looks like it's good to eat so experiment with colors but don't go overboard. Quote
Blue Streak Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Sometimes I think it is a combination of colors that work in many different waters under several different conditions. Quote
