Hi,

My name is Roger and I am in Charlotte, NC. I work for the city fire department and I am married with a teenage Son. We own a Triumph 195 DC boat that we use for fishing and boating fun. I mostly fish in 1 of 3 lakes close to my home. They are Lake Wylie, Mountain Island Lake and Lake Norman. We occasionaly take out boat to the coast and fish out of Little River. I am not shy about keeping my feet on the ground and fishing a farm pond either. As long as I am fishing I am happy.

I look forward to participating in the forums here.

Thanks, Roger :)

Thanks everyone,  such a warm welcome too!  Btech,  I see you are in Matthews. Do you boat or bank fish?  Where?  Would love to get feedback on your style and near locations.

Hey!  I usually put in weekdays at Copperhead landing.  I then head north back towards Mtn. Island and I fish coves and creek channels on the N.C. side ONLY! ;)  I will also find ledges and holes and hit them.  I like to try and find places I havent hit before.  As far as catfish I like to go at night and find a ledge along the channels and drop a few on the bottom and suspend a couple about 10-15 feet from the surface.  I seem to have luck picking up those that roll to the top in warmer nights.

The largest Bass I catch seem to be off the points of out croppings and islands.  On the S.C. side there is a submerged farm and silo about a mile north of the busterboyd bridge.  I hear there is a good variety of cats, bass and crappie in the area. :-X

Disclaimer: Folks, I abide by the laws of S.C. and I really do not  invade S.C. without a lic. I know about those areas because i had a S.C. lic. 2 years and I remember the great fishing there. :)

I put in at the launch around the allen steam station. I have carried an NC&SC license for a couple years so I do not have to care about what state I am in. I focus on a the numerous coves out in that area. Usually in the spring and fall you can pick up a mess in the coves, winter i am struggling, and summer the same coves that pick up Bass, have HUGE cats.

FYI...so far this winter I have been pulling 3-5 lbers in 8-12 ft of water. The coves I hit, it seems to be the magic depth.

Once thing i can catch lots of is catfish. Usually just using nightcrawlers I can grab a mess of them.

Its good to see so many from NC here.  Thanks for the comments.  As for winter fishing,  well I havent done any this year.  After surgery I just couldnt.  I am now itchy to go but I still have to wait until the Phys. Therapist say I can go back to work.  See,  I am out on sick leave and they might frown if they find out I am on the lake when I am out sick.  So I will follow the rule and be a good fireman.
