highlandguy Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Hello all. I have been bass fishing for many years, but I spend most of my time on the Hooch catching shoalies. I split my time fly fishing (hope that is not a bad word around here) for bass and smallies in NC as well on lakes and rivers. More than happy to give bass hooch updates if anyone is interested. I wade, fish from a Malibu miniX kayak and I have a custom guide canoe with a motor. This past year I have become a big fan of swimbaits that have caught many a hooch striper in '08, but beavers, jigs and rapalas will always catch the shoalie. Quote
DADto4 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Welcome to the site, What is a shoalie? Quote
highlandguy Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Shoal bass that are one of the five species of black bass. Particular to the Chatahoochee River and its tributaries. As mainly a river species, I have found it rather aggressive almost year-round, by the same token, 5-7 pounds is the best you will see. Quote
