Hi everyone, I joined a few weeks ago and have been lurking reading all the old posts, and I just wanted to say hi and thank you all for all the great info here.

I recently bought my first baitcasting rod and reel and have been checking all the old posts about how to cast and I must say that thanks to you guys, it has been an enjoyable (and much easier than I thought) experience learning how to cast it.

I went fishing this weekend and used the new rod and reel for the first time, and it was great fun and I can see why you guys prefer baitcasting outfits. The control is definitely way better (I stopped the lure short of snags quite a few times). Also after quite a few hours of casting my right shoulder started to ache, which forced me to start casting with my left hand and now I can cast pretty well with both hands, which I never thought possible :P

I also caught a couple of "little'ns" probably about a pound or so. So I learnt to cast, christened my new set-up and caught my first ever LM bass, which was in part thanks to you guys.

So thanks again.

Jon

P.S. Oh by the way I am a Brit. living in Taiwan now, So quite far from you all :P.

Thanks for the welcomes ;)

As far as the size here, I am not sure yet. Most of the places with bass here are pay fisheries. A friend and I are just trying to find places to fish at the moment. But I will let you guys know what I find :). As for pics, this is one I caught last weekend...probably about 3/4 - 1 pound (not sure though)

Oh seems I haven't posted enough to add pics yet :S

Maybe later then ;)
