Super User Muddy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Super User Posted July 20, 2008 Long story made short: It is a term we use in my old Brooklyn Neighborhood. It comes from the Honeymooners then was brought out big time in Martin Scorsese's MEAN STREETS, in a fight scene; " You can't call me a mook, hey Paulie whats a mook?" It can mean several things, depends on who is saying it, who they are saying it too and how they say it In South Brooklyn if someone on the block says>> WHAT's up Mook?' It means you are one of the regular fellas on the block If someone is offering work and say it is a construction job and they want an Electrician, a plumber and 2 mooks: the 2 mooks are unskilled labor doing the lugging work A Lawyer>>> Suit Mook A person just sitting on the stoop all day gossiping: Stoop Mook Getting Mooked; Somone bustin on you A mook move: doing something goofy and so on and so forth Quote
