Ehubb5951 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Just wanted to see what you all used for trailers for eakins jigs Quote
egolfer Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I love an Eakins Jig. I have been trailing them with a 3" Warrior Craw in green pumpkin. It keeps the jig compacy but the claws give off a ton of vibration. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 Most of the time it is a Zoom super chunk jr or creepy crawler in green pumkin. This year I have been using a 3"chigger craw with success. Allen Quote
aarogb Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Two words RAGE TAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though Rage Tails do have a lot of action and I do sometimes dye the claws to give it some extra excitement to the bass. Quote
FishingPirate Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I use too many trailers to pick just one. As long as it matches and isnt ridiculously out of porportion you'll be alright. Quote
djmax22 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I used these jigs a lot. My favorite trailer is the 4" Chomper creature (looks like a hula grub). It fills out the jig skirt nicely. Try it out. Quote
bmadd Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I like Zoom Ultra Vibe craws for the 5/16 oz. versions. It's a finesse jig so I like to tip it with a compact trailer but one that still has some movement. Another trailer that works amazingly on these jigs is the Yamamoto Fat Baby craw. The only downside with those trailers is that the claws are VERY delicate > Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 a zoom lil critter/eakins craw or 2" chunk Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted April 13, 2009 Super User Posted April 13, 2009 GYBC Flappin' Hog Word x3 X4 I'm a big fan of the Flappin' Hog, too! Some other things to try are the Rage Tail Craws and Craw Chunks; GYCB Double Tail Grubs; Baby Paca Craws and for a BIG presentation, the Double Wide Beaver. 8-) Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted April 13, 2009 Super User Posted April 13, 2009 Had my own success last week with the Eakins Missouri Craw w/Chompers rootbeer skirted grub. Quote
Super User CWB Posted April 13, 2009 Super User Posted April 13, 2009 Rage Chunks 3" Chigger Craws. Quote

DP82 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Out of curiosity anyone know where to get the 3in Eakins craws? Are they discontinued? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 29, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 29, 2017 I like a twin tail grub or YUM Craw Papi. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 29, 2017 Super User Posted January 29, 2017 I like a Zoom Super Chunk Jr. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 29, 2017 Super User Posted January 29, 2017 I've used a variety of different trailers on Eakins Jigs. Most of the time I use the trailer marketed by Jewel Baits, a little 3" craw.. So far as I know they are still available. I'll use Netbait Paca chunks also. If I know I'm going to be sticking with that jig exclusively for a while, I still have some pork frogs that I will use. If I'm going to be junk fishing and just rotating through numerous baits, I don't use the pork because it tends to dry out just sitting on the deck. Quote
