hi im from palm beach florida ;D.. im only 14 yrs old and i enjoy fishing alot..i dont really have any experts around so if ask questions everyone might know just remember im just trying to get some advice.. ive only been fishing seriously under a year. which makes me a beginner. :o

i'll start off the day with a question... ;)

In december i would catch a couple fish on every trip at lake osborne using a u-tail style worm...i fish the canals connecting into the lake and some ponds connecting to it, as well as the lake itself but i try to stay away because theres so much boat traffic.. i went to a spot recently that is completely motor free and walk free actually because thers too much muck to enter. btw, i was in a canoe.

i threw a worm, no results, a square bill crankbait..none, and then i tied on a soft jerkbait and got one hit but thats it..

now as it heats up i cant catch a thing >:(..advice??

The SAME thing happened to me (lol and I'm 14) the key for me atleast, is I use rattle traps, but with the warmer waters i fish slow, slow everything down alot. Fish get lazy and don't feel like chasin thier food.

Around here as the water heats up, the fish usually go deeper if they can and hold tighter to any cover they can find. Also, hate to say it :-[, skunks do show up every now and then. don't know if this applies to your waters or not. WELCOME to the forums!!!

If I were fishing in Flordia, I'd be throwing a Flordia rigged baby brush hog (pegged worm weight) or a jig designed for grass (like Oldhams jigs).

Other than that, spinnerbaits are good for covering water.  I don't necessarily agree that bass are lazy in the summertime or that you need to slow anything down.  Bass are cold blooded and are more active because of their higher metobolic rates in the summertime.  It's just that they gorge themselves and will typically become less inclined to chase prey.  Now if something were to pass right in front of them and force them into a reaction strike.... ::)

You made a great decision by coming here looking for info!  As others have said, more info helps us identify what might help you, or even other people in the same situation.

Personally, I agree with Brian.  Typically, bass get much more active during the summer time due to the warmer water temps.  Usually, in the early morning and in the evening they will tear up after faster moving lures.  These times you will often hear and see them just ripping up the surface.  As the day progresses however, they start to get lazy and hide.  They will either move into deeper, cooler water, or else they will seek shade.  Depending on the time of day you fish, you can use lures like spinnerbaits and cranks around docks and other cover to entice the fish out.  Also, since I am close to FL myself, in the hottest parts of the summer I fish just before daylight and for a few hours, and just before sunset and a while after.

In my experience I am able to do best during those times in the warm weather.  Good luck and ask away!

I say plastics plastics plastics!  Flukes, tubes, senkos, and grub tails are my go to baits for when nothing else is working.  They also have VERY different presentation aspects from crankbaits, for when a change is necessary. That said, WELCOME and GOOD LUCK! 8-)

Welcome :).  I would say the fish are either deeper or when spring and summer came the grass got thicker and the strike zone is smaller.

I'm with fishfordollars, Junebug is a great color. It might be hard to flip from a canoe but do your best to put your bait in the heavy weed cover and use heavy tackle. Also a deep diving firetiger crankbait is  good. Get it down till it touches bottom and slow it up letting it just keep contact with the bottom.

That is incorrect, fish get more active as the water warms.

Welcome
