Vitor Isaia Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Hi everybody! I'm Vitor Isaia, from Brazil. I fish since I was 13 (now I'm 27) and here in my city (Florianopolis, southern Brazil region) I basically fish snook in salty/mangrove rivers. I've always practiced baitcasting and catch-and-release. My brother-in-law lives in Urbana IL (near to Champaign) and me and my wife are probably going to visit him on September... I'd like to know if is there a good place to fish bass in Champaign region? Thanks a lot! Quote

Vitor Isaia Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 How Y'all Are I'd like to post some images of Floripa but I can't do it right now because I don't have enough # of posts yet... but if you type florianopolis at google image search you can have an idea! It's a beautiful island! 8-) Quote
Vitor Isaia Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 just completing... And it's totally different from amazon, jungle, etc... Brazil has a lot of big cities and lots of places to fish! And of course, black bass (largemouth)! Thanks everyone! Quote
Popeye Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. There are MANY places to fish in Illinois. A multitude of small farm ponds, reservoirs, and quarrys, not to mention all the rivers that run through the state. I'm sure you will have NO trouble finding great places to bass fish while you're there! Let your brother-in-law know that you want to FISH and have him scout around the area for you. Quote

Thanks a lot Popeye!! This forum seems to have lots of information about bass (and other species) fishing!! I'm very excited to fish there... It would be great if I could find a place close to Champaign to fish... I never caught a bass in my life... Imagine if I catch my first one in the Bass land!!! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 If you go 51 miles south near Matoon you can fish Lake Shelbeyville. 83 miles SW and you can fish Sangchris Lake. Both are good for bass. Sangchris has produced the state record Stripe Bass so you never know. Quote
Vitor Isaia Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Thanks muddy, daviscw and jrhennecke for the welcome. And thanks Uncle Leo for the tips, it will have a great value when I get there! Quote
