92 5 oh Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Hello, I'm new here, my names steve. I've been lurking around for a few day and there's a TON of great info on this forum. I'll have lots of quesions to come, i just purchased my first boat, it's not much but i can't wait to start working on it. ;D I've been looking for a boat for quite a while but the opportunity never came around until last week. My buddy was getting rid of an old trailer, asked if i would help him haul it off as trash. I told him if he was getting rid of it i'd take it off his hands...so last week i got a free tailor that held a 16' boat and needs some work here and there. I'm going to strip off the old ugly paint and repaint it, maybe with POR15 and get new bearings and runner boards. and on Saturday night i found a 12' aluminum flat bottom boat for $125. it's a little smaller than i wanted but i didn't want to pass it up for the price. it needs some work, going to repaint this as well. hopefully soon i'll get a deck in it and an outboard with some pics. i really wanted to put a nice deck in it, wire some lights and an electric trolling motor and maybe a livewell but i think it's too small :-/ Steve Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 24, 2008 Super User Posted March 24, 2008 Welcome!!! This is definately the place to ask any questions. I bought my first boat in Feb and have been asking questions and reading thru the information in the Fishing Articles link at the top of the page. Nothing but great information. If all goes well I will get my boat out for the first time this week. Both excited and a little nervous.... Quote
ring fry Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Welcome to the forum. Great place to learn. Be sure to check out the fishing/boating articles. They will answer a lot of questions, but if not, don't be afraid to ask. Quote
thetr20one Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I started out in a flat bottom john boat and still have one. I can take it places my Triton couldn't think of going. One of my favorite places to fish has no launch anywhere and I can just back up to the water and slide it in. Welcome!!! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 24, 2008 Super User Posted March 24, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Popeye Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Welcome to BR - the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net, IMO:o) Interestingly enough, I am currently searching for my first bass boat too. I've owned several sailboats up to a 30' Catalina, but they wouldn't do well on the lakes around here:o) I have my eye on a couple Bass Trackers, a Champion, and a Ranger right now. Just gotta bite the big one and let the Bait Monkey have his evil way with me on that!!) BR is one Fantastic Forum as you'll rapidly find out. Quote
thetr20one Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I AM BIASED BUT, buy a Triton Popeye the tr platform is fast, safe and durable. You can wave to the Champions, and Rangers as you fly past em. Lifetime warranty on the hull too! The X series Tritons are great but I bought my tr20 new and will problably keep it till it dies or Triton comes out with another tr20! Quote
