bASS HOOKER Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 Since i'm boat-less, I favor small ponds and creeks. There are a bunch around the area holding big ole bass. If I find a local in this forum, I can share some sweet spots! Spawn is almost ON! Happy Hookin' Quote
TruflShufl Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Ugh TX, I keep seeing pictures of bass from Texas. I wish I was in Texas... ;D Welcome to the site! Quote
Popeye Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Welcome to the BR forums. This is one great group of guys and gals who possess a tremendous amount of bass and just plain old fishing knowledge and expertise and they happily share that with anyone who asks. BR is the best bass forum on the net, IMO:o) Quote
Hookem Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Born and raised in the Austin area....Welcome to BR. BTW, depending on where you fish, its already spawn. Already spawned femme from Bastrop this past weekend. Quote

As for Texas, we have a cheer at LSU when we play the Longhorns: Wiskey Bottles, Cigarette Butts, We Have Texas by their......Horns! Enjoy the site. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 29, 2008 Super User Posted February 29, 2008 Welcome to the best fishing site on the net. Falcon Quote
SV1000 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 jemack... I feel your pain, I lived on the south side most of my 30 years in Houston so driving to a lake was a pain. Have you tried Sheldon? It used to be covered in lily pads and alligators but *looked* like it would hold some nice bass. I had no luck bank fishing but if I had a canoe I would probably have boated some fish. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/sheldon_lake/ hooker, If you try Sheldon don't go out in a tube, I'm serious about the gators! JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Born and raised in the Austin area....Welcome to BR. BTW, depending on where you fish, its already spawn. Already spawned femme from Bastrop this past weekend. Yea, they're spawning on that lake because it's a powerplant lake, and has hot water discharge... I fished a tourny in a storm Feb 16th there, LITERALLY like a few days before they started...actually i think some had started, but the bad weather had pushed them off. I caught 4 doobers to weigh in though, and a few fish in the 2-4lb range. Quote
JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 By the way, I live near Arlington, and I go to school in College Station at Texas A&M. Quote

We hit Travis this past Friday and saw a few on beds there. Temps are correct, 62-67 in the backs of coves but at sun-up, the temps were in the mid to upper 50s. Austin is next. Should be in pre-spawn there as its waters come from the bottom of 180' deep Travis. That should last until end of May. Central Texans have the chance to fish spawn almost 6 months of the year if you play your cards right! 8-) Quote
