SurferDave Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Hello everyone. Just wanted to post and say this is the most informative site that I've found on the net. I spent hours reading posts and the fishing articles before I registered. I've went 30 pages in the General Bass fishing posts to get an idea of the information from everyone. This is a great place and it seems everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. I'm new to boat owning but not to bass fishing. I have a '89 Ranger 390V with a '99 Merc 200 EFI that I use mostly on Cave Run Lake here in Eastern KY because it's only about 15 minutes to my local ramp. Sorry for being so long-winded and I want to thank everyone for help in all the questions that I know I'm going to ask. It great to be a part of this group. Thanks. Quote

Olebiker Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Do you ever luck into any Muskies at Cave Run? Quote
SurferDave Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 Thanks everyone. Do you ever luck into any Muskies at Cave Run? Caught my first Muskie on Cave Run about 15 years ago...on purpose, ;D but I haven't fished for them or caught one since. I have several buddys that catch small ones bass fishing every year. Have a friend that caught a 54 1/2" 46 pounder several years ago and it might still be the lake record but I'm not sure, They are definately in there! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 22, 2007 Super User Posted August 22, 2007 Welcome aboard! Quote
TheBeast Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Welcome. I fished Cave Run once with my F-I-L and didn't do much good but we were there in the heat of summer and never got to the main lake and was up in the river all day. Been wanting to hit that place again, my in-laws live in Jackson about an hour away. Quote
Olebiker Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Wildcat fans are welcome here . We'll see about that after the September 15 game with Louisville. : Quote

We went out on Saturday and had to go up Licking River just to get away from them. On the way out, we ran into a bunch of tournment guys and still had boats whizzing around us, but these guys were fishing of course. Quote
Triton21 Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Welcome Dave. I am formerly from Martin Co. Yatesville was my home lake. Took me about 2hr to get to Cave Run. You have joined the best fishing web site on the net. Kelley Quote
kybassangler Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Just got my bassboat and came up there fathers day. It was fun dodging the mighty 3 foot wake. Drained the battery running the bilge. I'd like to see my sone get hooked up on a sizeable muskie up there he'd love it. Quote
tallydude Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Who cares about football? We all know what is important in the bluegrass and it ain't pigskin. ;D Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted August 23, 2007 Super User Posted August 23, 2007 Welcome Aboard!!! Lots of good people on here. Quote
eastkybass Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Welcome from another Eastern Ky boy. Live in Ashland and grew up fishing Cave Run. My folks had a house boat on it for most of my younger days and can't wait to get back out there and give it another go. Quote
SurferDave Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 westpalmdude, that's right .....we all bleed blue for the old UK roundball. kybassangler, great looking young man you got there. Looks like he's already got the talent. eastkybass, it's been tough lately on Cave Run. I just got a new GPS route up the river so we've been going up there lately just to get away from all the pleasure boaters, jetski idiots and just to get to some water that's less pressured. It's still a little scary sometime going up. If you remember from being down there, the river is full of trees and such and no channel markers. So it's just go slow and follow the GPS. Hope to see some of you all on the lake and thanks again for making me feel welcome!! Quote
McNasty Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Glad to have you brother. Cant have enough Kentucky boys! Live in Lex myself and Im on cave run every other weekend. The rest of the time I spend in elkhorn creek. Pleasure to meet you! Quote
SurferDave Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Hey Earl, Good to see so many people that's pretty close. Maybe we can all get together and do some fishin' I've been wanting to drag my boat to Talorsville or maybe go up to Yatesville(Triton21's old stompin' grounds) to see how it's going there. See you all on the water and thanks again. Quote
