Hello everyone, I have been reading this forum for weeks picking up all sorts of advice and info. I feel like I have improved my bass fishing knowledge immensely!! I finally registered if for no other reason so i can thank everyone who posts. I am a Marine stationed in Quantico, VA and finally have time to get back into my favorite hobby. I bought a little 10' 3" Bass Tender boat with a trolling motor and have been fishing the ponds on the base here.

The last time I did any serious bass fishing it was texas rigged tournament worms with bullet slip sinkers. In the last two weeks I have gotten completely up to speed with the weightless senko worms solely on the info from your site. I hope to post regularly but just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for all the info, it has helped me boat a few nice ones already, though my 10 year old son humbled me by catching this bass Sunday Evening. He's officially hooked for life now. I will start seeking advice from him.

Welcome!  Congrats to your son, that's a beautiful fish!!!

I've only been a member a few months and I too have learned a vast amount  (some good, some just hilarious) :)

Anyway, again, welcome and I'm glad you finally have time to fish.                        deb

Was that at Quantico Creek?  Speaking of, since you are on base there.  I was curious, are there any spots of possum point road to fish quantico creek at?  I've never been down that way but looking at google earth it looks like there may be spots along it to fish.  Have you been down to tim's river shore yet?

My son caught that bass on Smith Lake, it borders the base and Stafford...there are two ramps each accessed through the base.  Good luck, stop and say hi if you see me out there.  He caught it on a t-rigged electric grape tournament worm...lots of coaching on it as he was using a light spinning combo with 6 lb test

jcrzy...I have not fished quantico creek or scoped it out at all...it seems incredibly shallow and full of vegetation to me...lots of better places to fish on the base in my opinion

You have entered the break the bank site of fishing, lol. This site is very informative which will lead you to what to fish with including rods and reels. These guys have helped me not only change my Wal-Mart's got it perspective but enlightened me on where, what, and how to fish. Ok, alot of times Wally World does have it. I got 2 new rigs from suggestions by more advanced anglers than me and am very happy. This stuff is addictive. Welcome to the sight and I hope you stay and get the fever.
