GrapeTown707 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Hey everyone , Im pretty new to fishin. I have fished a little in the past one the river here, just the cast and wait type of deal and was never really interested by it. Recently my friend called me up randomly and asked me if i wanted to go fishing with him on a pond by hear. So i dug through my garage and found my old pole , a 20$ walmart shakespear, when we hit the water I caught a bluegill on a little trout spinner and some bass off a crankbait I bought and some rubber worms. After that little fishin trip i found out how fun and relaxing it can be and try to go all the time now. I wanna upgrade my pole somtime soon and was wondering if anyone had suggestions and somthing cheap, around 50$, that would be a nice upgrade from my current one. I'll fishing almost exlusivly off shore if that make any differnence. Thanks for any help and cant wait to hit the water somemore. Quote
eastkybass Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Welcome to the site and the great sport of fishing. . ON the new Rod and reel which kind do you want spinning bait casting or a closed face reel. With being new to the sport I would either go with a closed face reel or a spinning reel. Most Walmarts will have good reels to choose from and Bass Pro sells alot of combo deals that are fairly reasonable. Quote
alhuff Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Welcome!!!! You have came to the right site, you will learn alot here. For $50 you can get a nice Spinning combo at Wal Mart. I would start with the spinning combo, you can use a wide range of baits with it. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5439146 The great thing about bass fishing is that it can be done without having to drop hundreds of $$$$$$ on equipment. Hope this helps, Alfred Huff Quote
Red Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 there was a nice combo at the walmart here i noticed..it was an abu garcia cardinal on a fenwick rod...about 55 bucks i think..the cardinal's go for about 33 bucks by themselves and there is several rods for around 20 bucks too Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Welcome to the Forum! Even after fishing since I was a young boy, questions still arrive, and they always will. Just ask away! Quote
