[[J4cks0n.Shr3dd3r]] Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Hello everyone, My name is James and im 16 years old. I know that there is a thread for young anglers, but I wanted to post a topic here where there will be more serious and more advanced/experinced anglers. All my life I have fished for crappie, bluegill, and carp out of the local creek. I used to live in Michigan and now moved down to St Louis Missouri. My mom has an old classmate down here that is an experinced bass angler who got me into the whole Bass fishing experince. The other day I went out and bought a ton of lures. I got some topwaters, minnows, plastic worms, torpedos, spinners, jigs, and the basics. I also have an Ugly Stick Heavy rod with a Bill Dance Quantum spinning reel, with 8lb test line. My question is, is there anyone out here who can give me any tips about bass fishing. I have been reading other topics and threads, but just coudnt really answer all of my questions. I have been watching Stacey King's videos, and have watched Bill Dance for numerous years on television. Help please! I want to be a good angler. I have my heart set to be one, I just need the push and the tips! Thanks a bunch! -James Quote

jaskoh Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Well you are in the right place. When I first found this site I made sure I printed off at least one fishing article everytime I had to go to my other office. It has been very helpfull so try to make an attempt to read atleast one article a day and before you know it you will feel more comfortable on the water. I noticed your from St. Louis so I would definetly read the articles in the Spring section, Post Spawn specifically. What I noticed from a couple lakes around here is that most of the bass spawned 2-3 weeks ago. Good Luck, Jason Quote

captaininsaneo Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Welcome Aboard! This is a great site to get you started, but nothing I repeat NOTHING beats time on the water, or the bank, or whatever! The best way to learn how to use those new lures is to look em up on this site, ask questions, whatever and then tie one on and go to the local fishin hole. Odds are you're going to develop your own techniques based on a combination of the ones on here anyways. Just remember only wet lures catch fish! Quote
eastkybass Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Welcome to the site. It is a great place for those who are new. Just do a search on anything you have a question about and you will find it. Quote
